Biodiesel is an umbrella term for oxygenated fuels made from vegetable oil or animal fats. Biodiesel is not new, in fact Dr. Rudolf Diesel developed the first diesel engine (1895) to run on vegetable oil. At the 1900 World Exhibition in Paris Diesel demonstrated his engine using peanut oil as fuel.
